This series of sculpted bas relief bronze portraits has been produced in honor of the first professors of medicine in Western Australia who came to Perth from over the world after the war, in the 1950s in order to set up this faculty.

Up to this time degrees in medicine could only be acquired in the eastern state’s cities of Australia. The project to set up a medical faculty at the University of Western Australia, was supported by the community who raised funds and collaborated together in this major project.
The efforts and achievements of the people of Perth at that time is commemorated and honored in this Professors Walk. The project also gives thanks to these medical pioneers and their great gift to western Australia.
